Medical students’ and teachers’ attitude: physician or patient-centered?

Abstract: Introduction: Patient-centered care has been associated with positive results in medical practice. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the attitudes students and teachers from a Brazilian school regarding physician-patient relationship verify factors. Methods: This an analytical cross-sectional carried out public university, using PPOS “Patient-Practitioner Orientation Scale” as well sociodemographic questionnaire. subjects were regularly enrolled attending second semester 2015 their teachers. Mann-Whitney Kruskal-Wallis tests used examine effect variables interaction scores found for Results: A total 212 surveyed, corresponding 57.1% course. value score 4.35 (± 0.5 SD), mean among female (4.43) significantly higher than that males (4.23) (p < 0.001), indicating more patient-centered group. Regarding teachers, 77 (56%) participated. 4.52 attitude comparison (4.35) = 0.001). However, there is clear need progress both groups. Conclusion: analysis students’ teachers’ about disclosed unknown scenario, verified despite improvements by both. Further research needed not only but behavior these subjects.
